Well I have many things to talk about but since I am working all week at Ten Thousand Villages there is just no time.
Later this week I hope.

What a May18th!
Today is 5 C and windy so it is very cold when yesterday was 26 or 27 C. So hard on all the plants which are coming so nicely.
Still no sign of the seeds from Dr. Berkutenko! I am/will be so very sorry if they do not make it through the mail.
Hopefully we can start planting garden next week. There is good moisture and it was warm once so we will see. Maybe we will try to use some mulch and stuff to help get the heat back into the ground.

Saturday afternoon Rain and Hail
Well we got our first real rain and it was a wild one. The skies dropped 1.5 inches of rain and hail mixed in about 40 minutes. Water everywhere and hail drifts under plants and in front of buildings. There was like a small river running through the yard into the garage until I could divert it and then on through the garden. Wow!
To day Sunday, there is standing water all around but at least in the yard it has soaked in.
I hope it is not a sign of things to come for the summer as we do not need hail!

So much to do, so little time
Well spring has burst upon us and plants are springing up, grass is growing and I am not keeping up! Wonderful to watch but a challenge to get everything done. I am so pleased to see almost all my Clematis have growth and at least 3 are budding. Flowers next week I am sure. There are many seedlings hardening off and perennials blooming - tulips are great and the crocus too. This week the Harbin Pear, Nanking and Flowering cherry are blooming as are the Edible Blue Honeysuckle Gerde and Ognennyi Opal. And one of my Japanese seedlings. Wow. I am so glad that there is nearly 100% survival as I planted the Japanese seedlings in late fall into a poorly prepared bed. Pictures coming but time is a real challenge.
